A small single-engine plane crashed Monday morning in Pacoima, Los Angeles after reportedly clipping high-voltage power lines shortly after takeoff near Whiteman Airport. Witnesses captured video of the aircraft going down as it hit the wires before crashing into a parking lot.
The pilot, who was the only person on board, was found unconscious but alive and rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Bystanders nearby helped pull the pilot out of the wreckage while dealing with sparks and live wires at the scene.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

ABOUT CONCRETE OASIS 3.0: On April 23 and 30, a blackened space on Museum Row opens into an immersive environment of light, sound, scent, and motion—an invitation to step inside and escape the rhythms of the city.
Since 2024, Concrete Oasis has functioned as a creative incubator in collaboration with The Grand LA. It has inspired student artists working across interactive media, live action, architecture, and expanded animation.
This third iteration moves across a wide terrain of ideas: the trickery of small, mischievous monsters; the fierce beauty of samurai; the subtle ripples of growth, decay, and rot in everyday life; the psychological unease of involuntary surveillance; traditional Chinese music translated into lush digital landscapes; and the dehumanizing data-collection of medical machine technologies. In creating these works, the students explored a range of cutting edge and traditional processes—real-time audio-reactive animation, 2D and 3D animation, organic stop motion, AI-generated video, creative coding, and live webcam interactivity.
Projecting across six screens, the works unfold in response to the space. A scent-diffusion station extends the experience into the olfactory, with scents evoking additional layers of meaning and engagement.
